"Sodomy III Script Unconfirmed" - Anwar Ibrahim

Anwar, adressing fans at Panel E of Pakatancon 2015,

and as normal, refuses to drop character until Blu Ray commentary

Kuala Lumpur, Feb 10
- In lieu of Pakatancon 2015, the conclusion of the courtroom drama Sodomy II will be aired nation-wide tomorrow. Anwar Ibrahim, the man who played the titular role of a politician going through sodomy charges, has said that the script for Sodomy III has not been confirmed. Critics so far has called Sodomy II a rehash of the classic 90s original. Some even called it an easy cash-grab, including the sub-plot surrounding the fall of the ringgit that seems to be inspired by the classic episode "Soros 1998." Movie and television critic, Roger Ebert wrote a dismal review of the season, reminding viewers that "Nostalgia isn't legacy."

Another common complain from critics was that the 2nd season lost the magic captured by the 90s classic, especially the banter between Anwar's character and the now-retired Mahathir Mohamad. When contacted by TQE, Mahathir said that "Viewers need to accept the verdict tomorrow as it is. Whether Sodomy II is going to be reviewed for a new season or not, we should appreciate the impact it has in Malaysian pop culture." The veteran also had no plans to take part in future episodes, nor did he respond to speculations that his character would appear in a cameo for tomorrow's finale.

Despite similar scripts, there were subplots that were praised by the critics. In the controversial episode, "Kajang Move," Wan Azizah's character was in the spotlight as her character was teased to be Chief Minister of Selangor. However, her character failed to obtain the spot. While some claimed it to be a plot-twist worthy of George R.R. Martin, feminist critics claimed that not pushing her into the main character was a huge snub. "It just shows how hard it is to be a female actor in the industry today, unless you play a degrading role" said Ivy Josiah, of WAO and an activist pushing for the Bechdel Test in Malaysian media. They further stated how underdeveloped characters like Nurul Izzah were, despite gaining a huge cult following throughout the years. Some fans even demanded a spin off for Nurul Izzah rather than a new season of Sodomy, a reflection of her likability.

In other entertainment news, studio-mates Teresa Kok might cancel the sequel controversial, dark-comedy Onederful Malaysia after horrible reviews. So far, she has demanded explanation why isn't allowed to enter filming locations in Sabah and Sarawak, also confirming rumors that the possible sequel will be set in East Malaysia.
